Braised Cabbage

Ingredients

  1. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  2. onion, chopped
  3. 1 pound cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
  4. apple, thinly sliced
  5. 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  6. 1 cup warm water
  7. 1 tablespoon vinegar
  8. black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet.  Add and sauté onion for 1 minute. 
  2. Add cabbage and apple, and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Combine pepper, brown sugar, water and vinegar. 
  4. Add the pepper mixture to the cabbage mixture, and cook, covered, over low heat for 20 minutes. 
  5. Stir every 5 minutes until done. 
You can serve this hot or cold, whichever you like.
