Whole Grain Pie Crust

  1. 3/4 cup whole-wheat flour
  2. 1/2 cup oats, finely ground
  3. 2 teaspoons sugar
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. 1/3 cup buttery spread
  6. 2-3 tablespoons water, very cold


  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, ground oats, sugar, and salt. 
  2. Combine buttery spread until mixture is crumbly. 
  3. Sprinkle with water, and blend together with a fork until mixture holds together. 
  4. Shape dough into ball, and place on sheet of lightly floured wax paper. Top with second sheet of wax paper, and roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Place in pie shell and shape into a crust. 
  5. Add preferred pie filling and finish according to pie baking directions. 
A great way to boost your whole grain intake.
