Grandma's Chicken & Noodle Soup

  1. chicken pieces
  2. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  3. onion, chopped
  4. 1 cup celery, washed and shopped
  5. large carrots, scrubbed and thinly sliced
  6. 4 cups egg noodles, dry


  1. Cook chicken pieces in a covered pot.
  2. Once chicken is cooked and cooled, remove skin, debone and cut into bite size pieces. 
  3. Put cooked chicken, seasonings and vegetables in pot. Cover and reduce heat to simmer for 15-20 minutes until carrots are tender.
  4. Add noodles to pot with chicken and seasonings. Boil uncovered for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Canned chicken may be substituted for fresh or frozen chicken. Leave chicken at room temperature no longer than necessary to remove meat from the bone and then return to hot water.
